Thank
you for taking a few minutes to check out this small page.
Any
season can be a fun and exciting time for both athletes
on a team as well as their families who follow and attend
their games.
I
know many of you have been and or are possibly involved
in coaching at the moment. Some in soccer and others in
other sports. Like me your motivation is not or was not
inspired by money but rather a desire to make a difference
in the lives of our young people. To give them an opportunity
to experience the growth, friendships, team building skills
and the disciplines that come from being on a team.
I
personally take my responsibility seriously, spending many
hours before the season even starts in preparation.
Once the season starts, as many hours are spent again in
preparation for the season. A practice does not pass as
either a game that I don't spend much time in reflection
on what should be changed, what should be strengthened
and what should be deleted.
As
the season progresses I get to know your boys better and
as importantly, their weaknesses and strengths. It is around
these insights that I organize and direct our practices.
Much thought and preparation goes into what hopefully will
show up during any given match.
I
ask that you allow me to be the coach. Of course it always
easy to be an armchair coach making observations after
the fact which of course is something I do as well. Every
decision I make is well intentioned, however we all know
that situations often evolve differently than that which
we intended.
Will I make mistakes, absolutely. I guess the trick is
to make as few mistakes as possible, but all decisions
I make will always be centered around what I see in practices,
what I know about the boys and data from our previous games.
So again I ask you to support me as well as your boys by
letting me be the coach and you being your sons and his
team mates greatest fan.
