Why A Fund-Raiser ?

Though I'm sure it is obvious to all including our boys that basically nothing in this world that is with few exceptions functions without money, and of course our soccer program is no exception.

At the beginning of each spring the the school district put an amount of money into the boys soccer account and that is there for me to make our program function. That is to buy new equipment, uniforms if needed and other ancillary things like gifts, awards and food etc (buses are paid for by the school, however if bus drivers find they are waiting around to long for pick-ups we can be charged for their wasted time).

In talking with other coaches I find that the amount I start each season with is at least half the amount most of the other coaches get and in some cases only one third.

Obviously depending on the quality a new set of uniforms for both Varsity and JV could cost upwards of $3,000 (the equivalent of 6 years soccer funds). Also as a coach I want to keep our program on track as we have made some big gains these last couple of seasons, and to accomplish this I need additional training equipment.

Those who have been involved in the purchase of sports equipment will know how expensive it can be. For example a new set of full size practice goals will cost around $1,600. That is without other equipment I would like to purchase which I have estimated to be around $400.00-$500.00. This doesn't include other ancillary items which usually run to about $300.00 a year or maybe just under. That comes to about $5,300. Take the $1,200 we raised in the Spring and add to that $500.00 and you will see how much we are short.

Boys and parents but especially parents. I and Coach Weight are doing everything within our power to make your boys experience a good one. I NEED YOUR HELP. This is not a long term project but it needs to be addressed and I certainly don't have the time to do that as well. Please get involved and encourage your sons to get involved as well. And for you boys; stop complaining about whether your might have new uniforms. Get out there and make it happen. Talking is always a good place to start but without the doing, it is just hot air.

Strategy
"Learn strategy. A good soccer player must know where to place himself in relation to the rest of the field of play. He must know timing; when to make a run, jump for a header, send a pass. We need more, strong mental players. STUDY THE GAME."

Advice

Being cold can greatly adversely affect a players performance.

Always come to practice or a game dressed warmly especially in those early days of our season. Clothes can always be taken off but if you do not bring them you might not be able to get warm and stay warm.
