This
will be my 10th year coaching at
the High School and my 14th year
of involvement at the club level.
Having grown up watching and playing
the game myself, my love and enthusiasm
for the game has never dwindled.
This next season (2005) will be my
third season as head coach and so
far are on schedule with my goal
to making Springville High School
soccer one of the best run soccer
programs in the state of Utah. Of
course there is a lot of hard work
in front of me and that is why the
help and support of you parents is
so important.
This next season is for sure going
to be tough coming off the back of
our incredible 2004 season but I know
with hard work and commitment from
the boys, not forgetting the total
support of all you parents, I know
we can make them feel proud again. |

Benjamin (BJ) Weight. Born and raised
in Springville Utah, 25 years old.
My love of soccer started by attending
soccer practices with a friend.
Unfortunately
I was never able to play on any organized
teams as I was growing up. When high
school came around, I found another
group of friends who loved soccer.
I began playing soccer with them,
and was quickly addicted to the game.
That summer I played soccer as long
as I could every day, 6 days a week
(no exageration). In high school I
played for Coaches; Don Liddiard,
Kelly Cook, and Chris Wright. After
high school, I began helping in the
training of both the boys and girls
high school teams, Goal Keepers. I
also helped in Coaching my little
sisters city league team. I found
it very rewarding to see things I
had helped to teach, help the players
succeed. After a short 2 year break
from soccer, I returned home and began
playing on various teams with friends.
In 2003 I again was able to help with
the training of the Goal Keepers for
the high school boys soccer team.
That summer I Coached for the boys
U18 Hobble Creek Storm B team. And last
season I was the assistant boys Soccer
Coach for the 2nd in State Springville
Red Devils, that was awesome. I have
seen huge progress in the soccer programs
since I started as a kid, and hope to
continue that progression here in Springville.
I love being on the soccer field; it
is such a great teaching and also learning
experience. I know there is more to
all of this than just a game, and I
hope I can be a good influence on the
guys as they are to me. I'm going to
be tough with them, but that is because
I want to bring out the great potential
I see in them. NOW,
LETS PLAY SOME SOCCER!

Advice
|
|
Don't
leave it until half way through the
season to decide you need new soccer
shoes. Buy them before the season
starts and have them broken in by
the time the matches begin.
Make wise choices,
your game and your experience will
be better for it...coach Wright

It's not the
will to win, but the will to prepare
to win that makes the difference.
